9/30/2024 10:00:00 AM The number of elderly people in society is increasing rapidly, and as a result, an increase in the prevalence of metabolic syndrome complications has been seen.
In one research by a group of scientists at Bushehr University of Medical Sciences faculty member, the relationship between components of metabolic syndrome and ECG abnormalities in elderly people living in Bushehr was investigated. The results indicated a correlation between components of metabolic syndrome and ECG abnormalities.
Therefore, routine ECG screening for people with metabolic syndrome, especially in the elderly, may contribute to the early diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases and effectively identify high-risk patients to prevent more severe complications.
It is recommended that policymakers and healthcare administrators devise strategies to reduce the impact of cardiovascular diseases and metabolic syndrome. Furthermore, continuous training programs should be provided to healthcare workers to enhance their knowledge and skills in managing metabolic and electrocardiographic abnormalities. Clinical nurses should also pay special attention to elderly people with metabolic syndrome and focus on EKG abnormalities to potentially prevent cardiac-related complications.
Metabolic syndrome is a group of conditions such as high blood pressure, elevated levels of insulin in the blood, elevated levels of blood lipids, abdominal obesity, diabetes, high triglycerides, and low cholesterol levels that increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
